Personal: Ever Changing

Photography is forever morphing. Styles, technique, equipment, editing, everything. You are always trying to change yourself for the better.

Two years ago I went with my parents and my niece to Oak Glen Apple Orchards. Then we went again this year but with my own daughter. Both of these photos are just quick snapshots and complete candids. I didn't realize how different the images are until I put them side by side. And wow. Maybe its just me but it seems to be a total 180. Im happy to say Im learning everyday. And even now, a week after the second image was taken I know I can do better. And thats exactly what I want.

I want to be forever bettering myself.

Personal: Blogging Withdrawals

So as many know I just recently made the move from Texas back to California. I couldn't express enough how much I was looking forward to being back in my home state! Then I got here and the tying of loose odds and ends has been overwhelming! I thought I left all that back in El Paso?! Nope! It followed me. Thus, it has left me with two options. Put everything on hold and deal with it, or live in my car and blog for the rest of my days! I was tempted to go with choice B and then I realized Child Protective Services would probably be knocking on my (driver) door to take my child away.

But amidst the chaos, I needed to find some time for myself. AKA time to blog!

Here are a few quick photos from my daughters (one of many) 1st birthday parties. If how old you are was determined by how many parties a person has had, she would probably be the youngest looking 8 year old you've ever seen!

Enjoy!

She will never know how truly loved she is

Couples: Daniel + Liz

Last week I had an impromptu photo shoot with my big brother, Daniel, and his new wife Liz. I think we planned this all in about a day? (Not to mention all planning was via facebook.) But I couldnt be any happier with the results!

My brother and Liz met in high school during PE class. This was the classic case. Pretty girl, total dorky guy. Or maybe he was just dorky to me? Either way there was something that caught Liz's eye. After my brother left their high school they lost touch. Then, years down the line, they crossed paths and sparked something back up. Two months later they were married. Yeah, two months.

So it makes you wonder, can you fall in love and know you want to spend the rest of your life with someone in just two months? Im sure everyones answer is different, but mine is yes, you can. And I can only say this positively after seeing them together. I love them both as individuals, and I love them even more as a couple. I remember I only had one question when they were talking of marriage... "Does she make him happy?" and honestly, I think the proof is in the pudding.

Is she stunning or what?

Our unexpected guest..

love you both!

Personal: 365 days. Exactly.

October fourth has finally come and is going fast. I cannot believe I now have a one year old. Should I be just a little scared?

She is absolutely everything to me. The comedian. The drama queen. The prankster. The lover. And everything in between. Over the last year she has taught me more than years and years of schooling ever could. Something only your own child could do for you. I never imagined I could love one being so much.

Though no matter how old she is, and how many birthdays we celebrate, she will always be my baby. That tiny little thing that made the grumpiest faces Ive ever seen. The only baby Ive ever known to wrinkle her forehead and give you a look like, "Are you serious, Mom?"

Today I wish more than anything her dad was here to celebrate with us. Not only is she a spitting image of her father (I almost questioned if I had carried her for 9 months, or if he did?) but their bond is something out of this world. Something only a father and daughter can grasp. But just as every other day I will remind her. Her daddy is fighting for our country. Our freedom. But he will be home soon. And we will go right back to them playing a little too rough, sleeping in a little too late, and always going back for that second goodnight kiss.

This is what one year looks like.

Happy first birthday Zoe.
You will always be my baby.

 Couples: Andrew + Chantelle

This post is far over due. In between the hustle and bustle of making the move to California my photography (and everything else for that matter) had to be put on hold. But dont think I forgot about this couple!

Chantelle and Andrew were one of the most fun couples to shoot! Right from the first photo the laughing started and didnt stop. I absolutely adore Chantelle for her fun, laid back attitude. I dont think she said no once to any of my ideas. Everything was easy breezy and the sun set made for some yummy lighting!

Andrew is currently fighting for our country right now in Afghanistan and with that, I say a huge thank you. To all of our service members. Come home safe.

Her laugh is beyond contagious

Are they stunning or what?
